House Museum Blog

For those of us who believe that houses speak – even when no one’s listening.

This House Museum Blog isn’t a typical travel blog.

It’s a personal heritage rebellion.

A quiet protest against the invisibility of house museums – too often overlooked, misunderstood, or dismissed as sentimental footnotes in the grand narratives of culture.

Some call them “the sleepiest corner of the museum world.”
Even within museum circles, they’re not always taken seriously.
Maybe it’s just a feeling we, the keepers of keys and creaky floorboards, carry with us.
But this blog exists to offer a different story.

The houses I write about here are:
– vaults of collective memory,
– sanctuaries from the noise of modernity,
– spaces where the weight of silence is worth listening to.

This isn’t a guide to Louvre-scale experiences.
It’s a guide to small places with big echoes.
To rooms that remember.
To walls that don’t need words to speak.

You’ll find here:

-reflections on house museums from Slovenia and beyond,
– stories of objects that still whisper,
– music that sets a tone rather than a trend,
and above all: honest writing, full of reverence, curiosity – and a bit of rebellion.

This blog is a quiet uprising.
A stand for house museums, for the small voices, for dignity in intimacy, and meaning in place.
For remembering what it feels like to be at home – in language, in story, in space.
